Welcome to our Dream

Feb 2, 2009

Welcome to A Little Bird! This new bird sings in Atlanta (and on the web), but he’s been tweeting in the minds and ears of Ben Ranker and Scarlett Ross for over a year. In many discussions over coffee and among friends we’ve talked about the commentary that “I just don't know what’s going on around Atlanta.” The solution seemed clear: a newsletter of sorts. There have been many newsletters that have existed over the years in Atlanta and the need for an information clearinghouse seemed clear. Our need to work with the Pagans around us crystallized at the same time and we began to put the two together.”

We envisioned Atlanta area Pagans browsing A Little Bird just as we now check in with the national news online or our favorite comics. A Little Bird would be, in our minds, the place to find out what is going on locally and to provide the opportunity to connect with others of like mind on everything from ritual to Georgia law and reading groups. Our vision had bright shiny web interfaces and seasonal graphics to entertain the reader, plus a host of articles that would serve as reference and inspiration for years to come.

Our vision isn’t quite completed, but the beginnings of our site are here and open for your perusal. Many of the goals we have for A Little Bird, like a classified section and group listings, will take time to build. The articles will take time to collect and publish. The events will continue to be added, but new display formats and easily completed online registration forms are on their way. None of these sections — or A Little Bird as a whole — can become anything without the Pagans who come here to share and learn. It is impossible to build a network of people without the participation of the people!

Our goal at A Little Bird is to provide a quality forum for the exchange of ideas and information to further the networking of Atlanta area Pagans: you! If you have an idea or article, if you think A Little Bird needs a certain something, please let us know. A Little Bird is hopefully the reflection of the Pagans in the Atlanta area and more than the mutterings of the editors who serve their community in this online nest.

Ben and Scarlett thank you for joining us on the initial launch of our dream. We hope that you find it a restful, helpful and intriguing place.
